The gal behind balm wears
Hi, I’m Becs. Founder, designer, and wearer of probably too many hats around here.
In case you’re new here - or because I likely never properly introduced myself, I thought I'd give you beauties a little backstory about me and my baby balm wears.
I’m originally from Ontario, Canada, and grew up working in my family’s small retail business. In my mid-twenties, I found myself in Bali running a surf and coffee shop. By 2021, I was ready to build something of my own: a job, a future, and a little world I could pour myself into.
I’d always loved clothes, but have no formal design experience. Honestly, I still don’t... but, I'm consistently learning and have managed to find ways to bring my concepts to life despite not being a trained "designer" and I get a little more structured each year.
balm wears started with a non-existent budget and a big dream as they say, and has grown step by step without investors, but a heck of a lot of blood sweat and tears. Lots of learning as I go, many “WTF am I doing!?” moments, and now a small team who’ve become a huge part of my life.

Today, we have three shops in Bali, but behind the scenes, it’s still very much a family affair. From our office to the people making your pieces, we’re a close and very small little crew.
I design everything in-house and still have my hands in every part of the brand, with a slowly growing team helping bring it all to life. Watching balm wears grow up has honestly been pretty surreal - you’re the reason it gets to, so thank you.
Slow, ethical, and conscious will always come first. In how I design, how we make, and how we look after the people involved from start to finish - that matters to me as much as the finished piece that you wear and love.
So, whether you’ve wandered into a shop, ordered from the other side of the world, or are just getting to know us I can't wait continue on this journey together and keep creating magic that makes you feel stylish and wonderful without sacrificing ethics. I will forever believe that you can feel the love, time and energy put into crafting the clothes you wear.
xx
Becs
